Bio-Dynamic Growing Practices

Our Approach: Restoring the Land with Biodynamics and Silvopasture

The Multi-Species, No-Till Land Management Crew (The Salatin Model)

Our Approach: Restoring the Land with Biodynamics and Silvopasture

We view the farm as a single, living organism, where the health of the soil, the well-being of the animals, and the vitality of the ecosystem are all deeply interconnected. By integrating the holistic principles of Biodynamics with the restorative practice of Silvopasture and a no-till, multi-species rotation, we are not just farming—we are actively building topsoil, enhancing biodiversity, and sequestering carbon.

Silvopasture: Trees, Forage, and Livestock in Harmony

The Multi-Species, No-Till Land Management Crew (The Salatin Model)

Our Approach: Restoring the Land with Biodynamics and Silvopasture

Silvopasture is an intentional agroforestry practice that integrates trees, forage, and the grazing of domesticated animals as a single, managed system.

  • Trees as Assets: Our trees provide shade for animal comfort (reducing heat stress and improving production), act as windbreaks, and offer additional fodder (like acorns or leaf matter). They also capture and hold carbon above and below the soil.
  • Rotational Grazing: The key to success is managed, intensive rotational grazing (MIRG). We move our herds and flocks frequently, allowing the land long recovery periods. This prevents overgrazing, encourages deep root growth, and ensures the continuous rest and repair that builds soil health.Looking for a way to give back to your community? Join us for a day of volunteering and help us grow our produce. We have opportunities for individuals and groups of all ages and sizes.

Following the principles made famous by Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm, we use the natural behaviors of our animals to perform the work traditionally done by machines, entirely eliminating destructive tilling.

The Result: The animals perform the roles of tiller, spreader, pest control, and fertilizer applicator—all without turning the soil, keeping the living fungal and microbial networks intact.

The Biodynamic Difference: Farming with Intention

Biodynamics goes beyond organic standards, viewing the farm as a complete, self-sustaining organism that is influenced by cosmic rhythms and subtle forces.

  • The Preparations: We utilize the nine Biodynamic Preparations (numbered 500-508, made from minerals, plants, and animal manures) as homeopathic catalysts to vitalize the soil, stabilize nutrients, and enhance the overall health and immunity of the plants and animals.

  • Closed-Loop Fertility: By using the compost and manure from our own livestock and applying the preparations, we reduce dependence on external inputs, completing the nutrient cycle right here on the farm.

Our Pledge

Our Pledge

We believe that transparency is the best certification. We invite our customers to visit the farm (or view our frequent photo/video updates) to see our no-till, multi-species rotation and our Biodynamic practices in action. We are beyond organic in our commitment to soil health, and we choose to invest our time and resources directly into the land, not into regulatory fees.

Have a question or comment? Contact us today and we'll be happy to help. We love hearing from our community and are always looking for ways to improve our farm and our services.
